PureHealth recently honoured emergency room (ER) heroes across its SEHA hospital network for their exceptional contribution to healthcare in Abu Dhabi. The emotional and inspiring event, held at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), was attended by His Excellency Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), and Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth, alongside senior healthcare leaders and frontline professionals.
Over 100 ER physicians, nurses, and support staff from SEHA hospitals were recognised for their unwavering dedication to saving lives and providing urgent care during critical situations. These ER heroes have stood firm in the face of emergencies, ensuring Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system remains strong, responsive, and resilient. PureHealth’s initiative aims to highlight the importance of emergency medical services in protecting community health and shaping a world-class healthcare future.
Dr. Salama Bin Rafeea, Acting Director of the Sector of Emergency Preparedness & Response at Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, praised the emergency teams as the “frontline heroes of our healthcare system.” He emphasised that their timely intervention and coordination through the Unified Medical Operations Command Centre (UMOC) enable rapid, life-saving responses before patients even reach hospitals. His remarks underscored Abu Dhabi’s growing global reputation as a leader in healthcare preparedness and innovation.
Eng. Mohammed Hassan Al Zaabi, Chief of Critical Infrastructure and Projects at PureHealth, described ER professionals as “the frontline guardians of health,” commending their courage, compassion, and precision in handling life-threatening situations. He reaffirmed PureHealth’s commitment to recognising and supporting those who go above and beyond in their mission to save lives and enhance emergency care in Abu Dhabi.
As part of the celebration, all honourees received personalised tokens of appreciation and recognition bonuses for their extraordinary service. A highlight of the event was the presentation of “ER Heroes of the Year” awards to 12 outstanding individuals for their exceptional contributions to emergency medicine and patient recovery.
Among the many inspiring stories shared, one ER professional was honoured for detecting an undiagnosed brain lesion in a car accident victim — a discovery that saved the patient’s life and ensured a full recovery. Another was celebrated for staying by the side of a severely injured child throughout the healing journey, providing not just medical care but emotional strength.
PureHealth’s ER Heroes initiative reflects the company’s broader mission to celebrate excellence, nurture healthcare talent, and elevate patient care experiences across Abu Dhabi and beyond. By recognising these ER heroes, PureHealth reinforces its vision of building a future where compassion meets innovation — ensuring that every second counts when saving lives.
