President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has emphatically reiterated his commitment to the ambitious $32 billion Nusantara capital city initiative, deeming it essential for the country’s future advancement. This affirmation came with his inaugural overnight visit to the designated capital, marking a transformative step in the development of this visionary project.
Following his rise to power in October 2024, concerns had been raised regarding the viability of relocating the nation’s administrative hub from Jakarta to Nusantara. However, Prabowo’s recent visit dispels these rumors, showcasing decisive leadership and a strong intent to drive the extensive infrastructure venture forward.
The Nusantara initiative aims to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion and environmental issues affecting Jakarta by establishing a modern, sustainable city in Borneo. This project intends to equitably distribute economic opportunities across Indonesia while pioneering new standards in eco-friendly urban development.
With construction efforts gaining traction, Prabowo’s presence at the site fosters public confidence and encourages additional investments. Officials express optimism that Nusantara will become a testament to Indonesia’s creativity, environmental responsibility, and economic vitality.
By reaffirming the steadfast support of the government, Prabowo sends a powerful message to both local and global audiences: Nusantara represents not merely a vision but an emerging reality that is set to transform Indonesia’s landscape for future generations.
