If recent reports are accurate, the Nepalese government has officially designated Pokhara, nestled within the captivating Gandaki province, as the primary tourism capital of the Himalayan nation. This formal proclamation occurred during a special event at Barahi Ghat, located on the tranquil shores of the picturesque Phewa Lake.
Despite Pokhara's longstanding reputation as a prominent tourism destination, its recent recognition as the tourism capital comes after meeting essential criteria. This designation signifies a significant milestone in Pokhara's journey, solidifying its status as a leading hub for tourism activities.
According to Pokhara Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, this declaration carries profound implications for Pokhara's global recognition. It not only acknowledges Pokhara's existing allure but also sets the stage for further development and promotion of its unique offerings to travelers worldwide.
Additionally, effective from Sunday, various businesses in Pokhara, such as discos, nightclubs, and live music venues, will have the liberty to operate throughout the night. This extension of operating hours provides enhanced opportunities for entertainment and leisure.
Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey of Gandaki Province outlined that establishments including bars, restaurants, spas, grocery stores, and snack shops in key areas like Lakeside, Prithvi Chowk, Mahendrapul, and Chipledhunga within Pokhara will be allowed to continue operations until 1 a.m. This allowance comes with the condition that they adhere to prescribed standards.
Pokhara stands as a vibrant tourist hub in Nepal, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, cultural richness, and diverse array of recreational activities.
