Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG claimed victory at the prestigious Milano-Sanremo held in Italy, one of the longest and most respected races in professional cycling.
The reigning world champion added another milestone to his career by securing his 110th win. The race is often considered a difficult challenge for riders with his profile, making the victory even more significant.
Pogačar faced a major setback during the race when he crashed just six kilometres before the crucial Cipressa climb. Despite minor injuries and some damage to his equipment, he quickly got back on his bike. With strong support from his teammates, he managed to rejoin the peloton and stay in contention.
After the race, Pogačar said he feared his chances were over after the crash, especially at such a critical stage. However, he was relieved to recover quickly and continue racing without serious damage.
He also credited his teammates for their key role in the win, highlighting their support after the crash as an important factor in helping him secure victory.
