On Tuesday, September 17, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bhainsola village in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. His visit marked the inauguration of several major initiatives aimed at women’s health, tribal welfare, and the development of the textile sector. This visit was special, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s birthday, and the projects unveiled are being seen as a milestone in Madhya Pradesh’s progress and development.

Launch of 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar evam Poshan' and 'Adi Seva Parv'

During the visit, PM Modi inaugurated the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar evam Poshan” campaign. This initiative focuses on improving women’s health, nutrition, and empowerment, which are crucial for the well-being of families and communities. Alongside this, the “Adi Seva Parv” was also launched to support tribal communities, focusing on education, health, and livelihood programs in remote areas.

The government officials highlighted that these programs aim to strengthen families by empowering women and ensuring that tribal communities receive proper resources and opportunities for growth.

PM MITRA Park: A Transformative Textile Project

The highlight of the visit was the foundation stone ceremony of the country’s first and largest Greenfield Integrated PM MITRA Park in Dhar. Spread across 2,158 acres, this park is being developed as a modern textile hub that will directly benefit more than 3.5 lakh cotton farmers in Madhya Pradesh.

Benefits for Farmers

Traditionally, farmers in the state sold raw cotton to middlemen. With PM MITRA Park, their produce will now be converted into yarn, fabrics, and garments, which will reach national and international markets. This transformation is expected to increase farmer incomes and reduce dependency on middlemen.

Major textile companies have already pledged investments worth Rs 23,146 crore, signaling strong industry support for this initiative.

Chief Minister’s Vision

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav welcomed the Prime Minister and said, “We want Madhya Pradesh to emerge as the capital of the cotton industry. This initiative will ensure real benefits reach our farmers and will be remembered as a milestone in the state’s progress.”

Madhya Pradesh: A Leader in Cotton Production

Madhya Pradesh is already a major player in cotton production. The state produces nearly half of India’s non-GM organic cotton and about 24 percent of the global supply. Cotton fields cover around 6 lakh hectares across 18 districts.

In the financial year 2024-25 alone, textile exports from Madhya Pradesh exceeded Rs 9,200 crore, showing the state’s strong potential in both domestic and international markets. PM MITRA Park is expected to further boost these numbers by providing modern processing facilities and market access for farmers.

Modern Infrastructure at PM MITRA Park

The PM MITRA Park is not just a textile facility; it is being designed as a model industrial township with advanced infrastructure, including:

  • A 20 MLD common effluent treatment plant for sustainable water management

  • A 10 MVA solar power unit for clean energy supply

  • Modern road networks for smooth logistics

  • 81 plug-and-play industrial units ready for manufacturers

  • Residential and hostel facilities for workers, especially women

Officials estimate that the park will create employment for 3 lakh people, with 60 percent of jobs reserved for women. This initiative is expected to transform the tribal and youth-dominated regions of Dhar, Jhabua, Ratlam, and Ujjain into modern industrial hubs.

Reviving Madhya Pradesh’s Textile Legacy

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted that in earlier times, cities like Indore, Dewas, and Ujjain had large textile mills where cotton was processed into fabric and garments. He said, “The goal now is to revive the entire textile cycle by creating industries around every harvest. This will empower farmers and transform lives.”

Madhya Pradesh has a rich textile history, with famous traditional weaves like Chanderi and Maheshwari, and prints such as Bagh prints and Batik. PM MITRA Park is seen as a way to blend this traditional heritage with modern industrial techniques, creating a sustainable and profitable textile ecosystem.

Focus on Women and Tribal Empowerment

A significant feature of PM MITRA Park is its emphasis on women’s employment. The park plans to reserve 60 percent of the jobs for women, providing skilled and semi-skilled work. This will not only empower women economically but also encourage gender equality in traditionally male-dominated industries.

Tribal communities in regions like Dhar and Jhabua are also expected to benefit from employment and skill development programs, ensuring that economic growth reaches all sections of society.

Economic and Social Impact

The PM MITRA Park is expected to have a wide-ranging impact on Madhya Pradesh’s economy:

  • Boost farmer income by processing cotton locally

  • Generate employment for thousands, particularly women and youth

  • Increase textile exports, strengthening the state’s global presence

  • Modernize rural and tribal regions through infrastructure and industrial development

  • Promote sustainable practices through clean energy and effluent management

Experts suggest that PM MITRA Park could redefine Madhya Pradesh’s cotton and textile industry, positioning the state as a global textile hub in the coming years.

A Birthday Gift to the Nation

The foundation stone ceremony took place on Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, making it a symbolic gesture of his commitment to women empowerment, farmer welfare, and industrial growth.

As the park becomes operational, it is expected to create a ripple effect throughout the region, encouraging entrepreneurship, skill development, and sustainable growth.

PM Modi’s visit to Bhainsola village is more than a ceremonial event. It represents a strategic vision for Madhya Pradesh, combining traditional strengths in textiles with modern industrial planning. The Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar evam Poshan campaign, the Adi Seva Parv, and the PM MITRA Park together are designed to empower women, uplift tribal communities, and boost the economy, ensuring that progress reaches every corner of the state.

With modern infrastructure, international investment, and employment opportunities, Madhya Pradesh is set to reclaim its place as a leader in India’s textile industry, while also promoting inclusive and sustainable growth for its people.
