A tragic accident struck a glue-making factory in Faisalabad, Punjab, on Friday, when a boiler exploded, killing at least 15 workers and injuring seven others. The explosion caused widespread panic in the area and badly damaged the factory building and nearby homes.
Local police confirmed that the factory manager has been arrested in connection with the blast, while the factory owner reportedly fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities. The exact cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
The incident also triggered a fire at the factory, which added to the chaos. Emergency services and local authorities quickly arrived to help the injured and control the situation. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and instructed officials to provide the best possible medical care for those hurt in the accident.
Industrial accidents caused by poor safety standards are unfortunately common in Pakistan. Faisalabad has witnessed similar tragedies in the past, including a boiler explosion at a textile mill in 2024 that injured a dozen workers. Just last week, a blast at a firecrackers factory in Karachi killed four people.
Local police and investigators are examining the factory premises and interviewing workers to determine why the boiler exploded. Authorities have emphasized the importance of strict safety regulations to prevent such accidents in the future.
