Islamabad, Nov 14: Pakistan security agencies have successfully arrested four militants linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in connection with the deadly suicide attack outside the Islamabad District Judicial Complex earlier this week. The attack, which occurred on Tuesday in the G-11 area of the capital, claimed the lives of 12 people and injured 36 others.
In a statement released on social media, the government confirmed that the arrests were made in a joint operation conducted by the Intelligence Bureau Division and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Officials described the operation as a critical step in dismantling the TTP network responsible for targeting law enforcement agencies in the capital.
How the Attack Was Orchestrated
Investigations revealed that the suicide attack was meticulously planned by TTP high command based in Afghanistan. The suicide bomber, identified as Usman alias Qari, was allegedly guided at every step by the militant group. The bomber’s handler, Sajidullah alias Sheena, confessed that he had been contacted by TTP commander Saeedur Rehman alias Daadullah through the Telegram messaging app to carry out the attack, aiming to inflict maximum casualties among security personnel.
Sheena reportedly received pictures of the suicide bomber from Daadullah and was instructed to prepare a suicide jacket, which he retrieved from a graveyard in Peshawar and transported to Islamabad. On the day of the attack, Sheena set the suicide jacket on Usman, completing the deadly plan.
High-Level Coordination by TTP
“The network was handled and guided at every step by the TTP high command based in Afghanistan. The entire cell involved in the incident, including its commander and three other members, has been arrested,” the government statement said. Authorities emphasized that the arrests represent a significant disruption to TTP operations in the country.
The government also indicated that further investigations are ongoing, and additional arrests and revelations are expected in the coming days as security agencies work to fully dismantle the militant network.
Impact and Security Response
The Islamabad suicide attack shocked the nation, raising concerns about the vulnerability of key government and judicial facilities to militant violence. Authorities have vowed to enhance security measures around sensitive areas and continue their crackdown on extremist networks.
The arrests mark a crucial step in Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism, showcasing the coordinated efforts of intelligence and counter-terrorism agencies to neutralize threats before they can cause further loss of life.
As investigations proceed, officials are calling on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens against extremist violence.
