India’s women’s blind cricket team advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup with an emphatic ten-wicket win over the USA. This was India’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament, showcasing their consistency and dominance. The victory came in India’s sixth match, demonstrating their strong form and readiness for the knockout stages.
For the USA Women’s Blind Cricket Team, the match marked a historic debut in the World Cup. The team was formed over the past year through a unique development partnership with Indian cricket institutions. Players were identified, trained, and nurtured to compete internationally, reflecting a growing focus on visually impaired cricket in the United States. Despite being newcomers, the USA players showed determination and courage throughout the match.
Electing to bat first, the USA managed 60/8 in 20 overs. India’s bowlers and fielders displayed sharp skills and teamwork, consistently applying pressure. Key USA players, Tatyana (17 off 41, B2) and Caroline (12 off 26, B2), fought hard but could not prevent wickets from falling. India’s bowlers, including Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1), and Ganga Kadam (B3), each took wickets, while fielders contributed with multiple run-outs, highlighting their coordination and strategy.
Chasing the modest target of 61, India completed the run chase in just 3.3 overs without losing a wicket. Player of the Match Simranjeet Kour smashed an unbeaten 31 off 12 balls (B2), while Kavya N.R (B3) supported with 21* off 12 balls. The batting performance underlined India’s experience and confidence, quickly putting the match beyond the USA’s reach.
With this win, India now prepares for a high-profile semi-final clash against their traditional rivals, Pakistan, in Colombo on Sunday. The upcoming match is expected to be a competitive and exciting encounter, drawing attention from fans of women’s blind cricket worldwide. India will aim to maintain their strong form and continue their march towards the championship.
While the match highlighted India’s dominance, the USA’s spirited debut reflected the growing global interest in women’s blind cricket. The young American team’s courage and determination indicate the potential for future success and the expansion of the sport internationally. This development aligns with broader efforts to promote inclusive cricket for visually impaired players worldwide.
India’s commanding win over the USA underscores their status as a top contender in the 2025 Women’s Blind T20 World Cup. With the semi-finals approaching, the team looks focused and determined to continue their winning streak and compete for the title. The USA’s debut performance, despite the loss, marks an important step in the growth of international women’s blind cricket.
