Oppo has quietly launched two new phones: the Oppo A5i and the Oppo A5i Pro. These phones look a lot like some of Oppo’s older models, but they bring a few updates and some strong features for their price.
Both phones run on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 chip. This is basically a new name for the older Snapdragon 662, which was also used in the Oppo A5 Pro 4G. So, the performance is familiar and should be good enough for everyday tasks like calling, chatting, watching videos, and playing light games.
Display and Design
Both the A5i and A5i Pro have a big 6.67-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution. They support a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling and animations look smoother. The screens can get very bright, up to 1,000 nits, so you can see them clearly even outside. There’s also an anti-glare coating to help with sunlight. The Pro model uses a better quality IPS panel for slightly nicer colors and viewing angles.

The front and back of both phones are protected with China Southern Glass and Panda Glass, which Oppo says are “twice reinforced.” The phones have passed military-grade durability tests (MIL-STD-810H) and have SGS certification, so they should handle bumps and drops better than regular phones.
Water and Dust Protection
The regular A5i has basic protection against dust and water with an IP54 rating. This means it can handle a few splashes and some dust. The Pro model is even better with an IP65 rating, so it can handle stronger water jets. Both phones let you use the screen even if your fingers are wet.
Battery and Charging
The Oppo A5i has a 5,100mAh battery. Oppo promises it will keep at least 80% of its capacity even after four years. It also supports fast charging at 45W, so you can quickly top up the battery.
If you need even more battery life, the A5i Pro comes with a huge 6,000mAh battery, also with 45W fast charging. Because of the bigger battery, the Pro is a little thicker and heavier, but not by much—just a few grams and millimeters more.
Cameras
The cameras are where the two phones are quite different. The regular A5i has a simple 8MP main camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies. Both cameras can record video at up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.
The A5i Pro has a much better 50MP main camera with a wider aperture, which should help in low light. There’s also a second camera on the back, likely for depth effects, but Oppo hasn’t said exactly what it does. The front camera is still 5MP.
Memory and Storage
The Pro model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of fast UFS 2.1 storage. The regular A5i has less memory—either 4GB or 6GB of RAM—and storage options of 64GB or 128GB, but it uses the slower eMMC 5.1 storage.
Other Features
Both phones only support 4G networks, not 5G.
They have dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth with aptX, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The A5i has a 3.5mm headphone jack, but the Pro does not. Instead, the Pro has NFC and an IR blaster, which can be used to control TVs and other devices.
Both phones run on ColorOS 14.0, based on Android.
Availability and Price
Right now, the Oppo A5i Pro is available in the Philippines for PHP 9,000 (about $160, €140, or ₹14,000). It’s being sold first on Shopee and will be available on TikTok Shop and Lazada from June 20. The regular A5i hasn’t shown up in stores yet. The A5i comes in Starry Purple and Nebula Red, while the Pro is available in Midnight Purple
