A new chapter in Middle East logistics is unfolding as Noatum Logistics, part of AD Ports Group, partners with Hafeet Rail to launch a dedicated freight corridor between Sohar in Oman and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. The agreement, formalized at the Global Rail 2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, marks the first rail connection linking these strategic hubs.
The proposed service promises seven container trains weekly, each capable of carrying 276 TEUs, translating to an annual throughput of nearly 193,200 TEUs. The trains will handle a wide range of containers—20ft, 40ft, and 45ft—covering goods from manufactured products and pharmaceuticals to food and essential supplies.
By leveraging Hafeet Rail’s network, Noatum Logistics aims to offer businesses a cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable alternative to road transport. Rail freight not only reduces fuel consumption but also significantly lowers carbon emissions per tonne, making it a greener solution for regional supply chains.
The project builds on existing services that already connect Khalifa Port to Fujairah Terminals, expanding the network to enable smoother cross-border trade. Beyond operational efficiency, this rail corridor is set to enhance regional economic integration, providing new opportunities for trade while supporting sustainable development goals.
With this development, Oman and the UAE are positioning themselves as leaders in modernizing logistics infrastructure, promoting a future-ready supply chain ecosystem across the Gulf.
