The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman (MPDA) welcomed a delegation from clients of Singapore’s Hikvision to explore global best practices in critical sectors. This meeting highlights the MPDA's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to enhance its services and operations.
The delegation was warmly received by prominent officials, including Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector; Dr. Eng. Mohammad Ahmad bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector; Yousef Mohammad Al Shaiba, Advisor to the MPDA’s Chairman for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence; Hind Al Shamsi, Director of the Smart Services Development Department; and Humaid Al Falasi, Director of the Paid Parking Department. These leaders were accompanied by their respective teams, all dedicated to incorporating modern technologies and AI into various work sectors.

Eng. Khalid Moeen Al Hosani emphasized the MPDA's significant progress in its smart transformation journey. He noted that the department has achieved remarkable results through its ambitious competencies. The MPDA has developed a comprehensive plan to shift from traditional services and applications to smart models accessible to customers anytime and anywhere. This transformation is viewed as a vital pillar and partner in advancing the region's development and improvements.
Dr. Eng. Mohammad Ahmad bin Omair Al Muhairi highlighted the effective implementation of AI technologies within the MPDA's infrastructure, particularly in the monitoring and maintenance of roads and public facilities. He stated that this initiative has greatly enhanced operational efficiency and improved service delivery to meet community needs while elevating the quality of life in the Emirate. The use of smart systems enables early problem detection, facilitating proactive measures to avoid potential malfunctions, thereby improving safety and reducing operational costs. The MPDA is committed to enhancing its infrastructure through innovation and collaboration with global partners to ensure the delivery of pioneering and sustainable services.
Advisor Yousef Al Shaiba remarked on Singapore's success as a leader in smart city development, positioning Ajman as a model for smart city initiatives across various fields. He noted that the meeting aimed to establish cooperative frameworks to tackle shared challenges and continue developing solutions for global smart city advancement. The MPDA is dedicated to building collaborative bridges and enhancing future cooperation in AI applications across health and environmental sectors, infrastructure development, and the provision of high-quality services aimed at improving life quality and societal happiness.
Hind Al Shamsi detailed the MPDA's innovative smart parking system during the delegation's visit. She outlined the department's vision to transform traditional parking spaces into smart facilities, aligning with the UAE's leading strategies for smart city development. This project harnesses advanced technologies designed to save time and effort, characterized by streamlined procedures.
Al Shamsi explained that the MPDA has integrated fixed cameras and vehicles equipped with smart cameras in the Emirate's paid parking areas, enabling efficient management of parking spaces and the swift execution of related operations. The reliance on smart virtual systems and automated processes enhances the effectiveness of parking operations.
The discussions also centered on fostering cooperation and coordination across various sectors between the two parties. The visiting delegation expressed gratitude for the MPDA’s willingness to share its successful experiences, demonstrate its practices, and explore avenues for collaborative efforts benefiting both parties.
This meeting underscores the MPDA's proactive approach to embracing technology and innovation, positioning Ajman as a forward-thinking city committed to smart solutions and enhanced public services.
