Bassist Mohini Dey has strongly rejected rumors that her divorce from her husband, Mark Hurtzuch, is connected to the recent separation of famous music composer AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu. Mohini announced her separation shortly after AR Rahman and Saira made their divorce public, which led to some people wrongly linking the two events. However, Mohini has made it clear that these rumors are false and have no connection to her personal life.
In a social media post, Mohini said she was upset with the false rumors and asked everyone to respect her privacy. She also said that she would not waste her time or energy talking about rumors. She turned down all interview requests and said she had no intention of feeding the gossip.

AR Rahman’s son, Ameen, also spoke out against the rumors on social media. He defended his father and urged people to respect his family’s privacy. Similarly, Rahman and Saira’s daughter, Raheema, shared her disappointment about the online rumors. She posted an Instagram story saying, "Through every hardship, there is ease. Your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied." Raheema also asked people to respect her family’s privacy, saying, "I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Thank you for your understanding."

In addition, AR Rahman and Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, stepped in to clear up the confusion. She denied that there was any connection between Mohini’s divorce and the Rahman-Banu separation. She explained that AR Rahman and Saira’s decision to divorce was a personal one and based on emotional stress. In an interview with Republic TV, Vandana Shah said, "There is no connection between these two events. Saira and Rahman made this decision on their own."

Saira Banu also released a statement asking for privacy during this difficult time. She said that while it was a painful decision, divorce was necessary for their well-being. Saira and AR Rahman, who got married in 1995, said their marriage faced many challenges over the years, and these problems had grown too big to overcome. They made it clear that they still cared for each other, but it was no longer possible for them to stay together. They expressed that the decision to separate was made with much sadness.

In the statement, both AR Rahman and Saira Banu asked for privacy and for their personal lives to be respected. They emphasized that they wanted to handle the situation quietly and away from public attention, urging people to stop spreading rumors and allow them to heal in peace.
