Miral Sees Surge in Visitors and Hotel Occupancy at Yas and Saadiyat Islands This Summer

Miral has announced a notable rise in visitors to Yas Island and Saadiyat Island over the summer, further solidifying their status as premier destinations for families and tourists from across the globe.

Yas Island, recognized as the UAE’s top leisure and entertainment hub, experienced a remarkable influx of both domestic and international tourists. Data revealed a striking 72% increase in visitation to Yas Theme Parks from GCC countries. Visitors from India also contributed to the surge, with a 24% rise noted. The hotels on Yas Island recorded an impressive 83% occupancy rate throughout the summer season, reflecting a 29% increase in international hotel guests. Notably, August 2024 alone saw a staggering 90% hotel occupancy rate.

On the other hand, Saadiyat Island, celebrated for its stunning beaches, luxury resorts, and rich cultural experiences, attracted visitors from around the world. The island achieved an occupancy rate exceeding 65% over the summer, with August 2024 recording a 73% occupancy rate. Compared to the previous year, Saadiyat Island's summer hotel occupancy increased by 13%, alongside a 19% rise in international hotel guest arrivals.

Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, the Group CEO of Miral, expressed his satisfaction with the success of both islands this summer. "We are thrilled with the success Yas Island and Saadiyat Island have achieved this summer. Their remarkable performance has truly elevated this season into one of the most vibrant and high-demand periods in Abu Dhabi's tourism calendar," he stated. Al Zaabi further emphasized that the impressive occupancy rates and increased visitation reflect Miral’s continued commitment to establishing Yas Island as a global entertainment destination and Saadiyat Island as a leading cultural and natural retreat.

In a significant development, Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds was appointed as Yas Island’s third Chief Island Officer (CIO), enhancing the island’s global appeal. Additionally, Yas Island collaborated for the second consecutive year with the Kuwaiti music group Miami Band to release a summer rendition of their hit song, "AACHAW." The track has gained widespread popularity across the GCC, attracting visitors from the region.

Throughout the summer, Yas Island hosted a variety of major events, reinforcing its reputation as a leading entertainment venue. The Yas Theme Parks offered a range of summer festivities for families, featuring special events and interactive experiences. Meanwhile, Yas Bay Waterfront showcased a series of events, fireworks displays, and fine dining options. Yas Mall, the largest shopping center on the island, attracted thousands of visitors by offering exclusive summer promotions, extended shopping hours, and family-friendly activities.

This summer's results highlight Yas Island and Saadiyat Island's positions as top destinations for leisure, entertainment, and luxury, welcoming guests from all corners of the world and contributing to Abu Dhabi’s thriving tourism landscape.
