UAE to Host Arqoub Al Sadeera Race in Al Salam Cycling Finale

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai will organize the Arqoub Al Sadeera Race tomorrow. This marks the final event of the 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship, covering a challenging 100 km route from Al Samha in Abu Dhabi to Saih Al Salam in Dubai.

The race commemorates a historic milestone in the UAE’s journey. Arqoub Al Sadeera was the site of the landmark meeting on 18 February 1968 between the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, where they laid the foundations for the Union and charted a vision for the nation’s future.

His Excellency Omair bin Juma Al Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, stated that the final race “reflects the UAE’s commitment to promoting sports, healthy lifestyles, and world-class cycling infrastructure connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai.”

The 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship has seen unprecedented growth in participation and competitive standards. The final race will feature four main categories: professional men and club riders, amateur men, professional women and club riders, and amateur women. Age-group categories will also be recognized, encouraging cyclists from 18 to 66+ to participate.

The Higher Organising Committee approved AED 700,000 in prize money, the highest globally for a local road cycling event. Key entities supporting the race include the Ministry of Interior, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Dubai Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Police, Dubai Police, Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, along with strategic partners such as Dubai Municipality, RTA, Government of Dubai Media Office, Dubai Sports Channel, UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film.

The championship season began in December with the ‘Safety and Security’ Race for Emirati cyclists and included the HH The Ruler of Dubai Court Race, Women’s Race, Women’s Desert Race, and the General Desert Race, culminating in tomorrow’s historic Arqoub Al Sadeera Race.

This final race highlights the UAE’s vision to advance cycling as a professional sport, celebrate national athletes, and promote fitness and active lifestyles nationwide.
