Mastiii 4, featuring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh, hit theatres on November 21 and opened to an average response across most regions. The film, which marks the return of one of Bollywood’s most recognised adult-comedy franchises, faced muted excitement in terms of advance ticket sales. This trend mirrored its release-day competitor 120 Bahadur, which struggled with similarly low pre-release buzz.
The Masti franchise has enjoyed mixed fortunes over the years. The original Masti (2004) and Grand Masti (2013) were major box-office successes, establishing a strong fan base for the light-hearted, adult-humour format. However, Great Grand Masti could not match the success of its predecessors, creating uncertainty about how audiences would respond to another instalment. Despite this, the makers of Mastiii 4 hoped that familiar faces, trademark chemistry and established humour would help revive interest in the series.
On opening day, the film recorded an estimated collection of ₹2.50 crore, giving it a slight edge over 120 Bahadur, which managed ₹2.35 crore. Although Mastiii 4 technically secured the higher figure, the overall numbers fell short of expectations for a franchise-driven release. Trade observers noted that the film will depend heavily on weekend footfalls and word-of-mouth to show any significant rise in collections.
In the midst of these new releases, De De Pyaar De 2 continued to display impressive stability as it entered its second week in cinemas. Starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan, the film earned ₹2.25 crore on Friday. Its numbers are notable, as the second-week figure closely matches the opening-day performance of both new releases. This consistency highlights the film’s strong audience retention and broader appeal.
With multiple films currently competing for audience attention, the box office is expected to show clearer trends over the weekend. For Mastiii 4, the real test lies in whether the franchise’s brand value and nostalgia can translate into stronger collections in the days ahead.
