Malayalam Film 'The Goat Life' Nominated Twice at Hollywood Music Awards

New Delhi: The Malayalam film The Goat Life has earned two nominations at the 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA).

Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman has been nominated for the ‘Song-Feature Film category for his song "Periyone." The song, sung by Jithin Raj, was written by Rahman and Rafiq Ahamed.

Rahman is also nominated in the ‘Score-Independent Film’ category for his background score for The Goat Life. The score is titled Aadujeevitham in Malayalam, The film, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released in March this year and has been praised for its moving music.

The Hollywood Music in Media Awards, organized by the Hollywood Music in Media Academy, celebrates original music across all forms of visual media, including films, TV shows, video games, trailers, commercials, documentaries, and special programs.

The list of 2024 nominees includes household names such as Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, Lainey Wilson, and Pharrell Williams. It also celebrates legendary composers like Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson-Williams, Kris Bowers, and the acclaimed duo Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. This broad spectrum of artists reflects the wide-reaching influence of music across all forms of entertainment.

The award ceremony is scheduled for November 20 at the Avalon Theatre in Los Angeles, where the winners will be announced in a star-studded celebration.

The Goat Life’s official Instagram page shared their excitement about the nominations. Jithin Raj, who performed the nominated song Periyone shared his excitement on Instagram, thanking director Blessy and Rahman for their unwavering support throughout the journey. “Congratulations to all the nominees! Here to celebrate the power of music and cinema,” he posted

The Goat Life is based on the bestselling 2008 novel Aadujeevitham by Benyamin. The film tells the poignant true story of Najeeb, a young man from Kerala who, in the early 1990s, migrates to a foreign land in search of a better life. Along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film features stellar performances by Amala Paul, KR Gokul, Hollywood actor Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Arab actors Talib al Balushi and Rik Aby in pivotal roles.

Produced by Visual Romance, The Goat Life explores themes of survival, hope, and the human spirit. Its recognition at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards is a significant milestone, further establishing the film’s global reach and the growing prominence of Malayalam cinema on the international stage.
