IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Varanasi

A routine flight from Kolkata to Srinagar turned tense on Wednesday when an IndiGo aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport due to a suspected fuel leak.

Flight 6E-6961, carrying 166 passengers and crew, touched down safely at 4:10 pm. Passengers were calmly evacuated and moved to the airport’s arrival hall, with no injuries reported.

Officials said the alert came after the pilot noticed a fuel leak mid-flight and immediately informed Air Traffic Control. The ATC quickly cleared the aircraft for an emergency landing, allowing the crew to bring it down safely under controlled conditions.

Following the landing, IndiGo arranged an alternate flight to ensure passengers could continue their journey to Srinagar without major delays. Airport authorities and airline staff coordinated swiftly to manage the situation, emphasizing passenger safety as the top priority.

The incident, though alarming, was handled efficiently, highlighting the crew’s preparedness and the airport’s emergency response systems. Passengers later expressed relief at the professional handling of the situation.
