SNOC is one of the most important organisations in the emirate as it deals with oil and gas exploration, production, and management. Under his leadership, SNOC has achieved many goals and has contributed to the growth of the oil and gas sector in Sharjah.
The Energy Council in Sharjah is a body that looks after all energy-related matters in the emirate. It works on planning, development, and management of energy resources such as oil, gas, and clean energy. The council also advises the government on future energy projects, policies, and initiatives to ensure that Sharjah has a strong, sustainable, and well-managed energy sector.
According to the new decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Khamis Abdullah Khamis Al Mazrouei will now become a member of the Energy Council in Sharjah. This means he will join other members who are already part of the council. His experience as Executive Director of SNOC will help the council in making better decisions for Sharjah’s energy future.
The decree also mentions that Khamis Al Mazrouei will complete the membership term specified earlier in Emiri Decree No. (76) of 2024. This decree was issued concerning the formation of the Energy Council in the Emirate of Sharjah. It laid down rules regarding who will be the members, what their roles will be, and how long they will serve on the council.
This appointment is very important for Sharjah for many reasons:
Adds Expertise: Khamis Al Mazrouei has deep knowledge of oil and gas, which are major sectors in Sharjah.

Since Khamis Al Mazrouei is the Executive Director of SNOC, it is important to know about SNOC’s role. The Sharjah National Oil Corporation was established to handle the oil and gas resources in Sharjah. It manages the production, exploration, and export of oil and gas. SNOC also works on storing natural gas to make sure Sharjah has enough energy for industries, homes, and future needs.
An Emiri Decree is an official order issued by the ruler of an emirate. It is a very important document because it carries the direct decision of the ruler. When His Highness issues an Emiri Decree, it means that the decision is final and must be followed by all departments and organisations in the emirate.
Sharjah has always focused on improving its energy sector. The Energy Council plays a key role in planning how Sharjah will meet its energy needs in the coming years. The emirate is not only working on oil and gas but also thinking about clean energy and sustainable solutions for the future. Leaders like Khamis Al Mazrouei are crucial to achieving this vision.
With Khamis Al Mazrouei joining the council, the Energy Council will now have stronger leadership. He will attend the council’s meetings, share his ideas, and help in making decisions about:
New oil and gas projects

Clean energy projects and policies
Future planning for Sharjah’s energy needs
His role will be to guide the council using his experience in the energy sector so that Sharjah continues to be strong, modern, and ready for the future.
