His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree outlining the formation of the Energy Council in the Emirate of Sharjah. This council will play a pivotal role in guiding the energy sector within the emirate.
The Energy Council will be chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council. The council's membership will include several prominent figures, such as Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Petroleum Department; Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the Petroleum Department; His Excellency Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority; and His Excellency Waleed Ibrahim Al Sayegh, Director General of the Finance Department.

The decree specifies that each member of the council will serve a term of four years, which may be extended for additional similar periods. The council will remain active and continue its operations even after the expiration of its term until a new council is appointed. Additionally, members whose terms have ended may be reappointed, ensuring continuity and stability within the council.
This initiative reflects the Ruler's commitment to enhancing the energy landscape in Sharjah, focusing on sustainability and efficiency in energy management. The newly formed Energy Council is expected to address key issues and challenges in the sector while supporting the emirate's strategic goals for economic development and energy sustainability.
