Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club emerged victorious in the second round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which featured intense No-Gi competitions held at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai this Sunday. Organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the championship showcased a diverse array of athletes spanning from Youth to Masters categories, encompassing participants aged 10 and upwards.

The event saw prominent participation from premier clubs and academies across the UAE. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club clinched the top spot, followed closely by M.O.D UAE in second place and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club securing third.

Notable dignitaries attended the event, including His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Authority of Sports; Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi; His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union; and His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, among others.

Reflecting on the championship, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum emphasized its role in advancing jiu-jitsu within the UAE and globally, underscoring its impact on fostering young talent and promoting sports engagement across communities.

Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, commended the athletes' exceptional performances and highlighted the championship's strategic importance in nurturing competitive spirit and talent development, particularly noting the inclusion of the under-12 category in No-Gi competitions for the first time.

The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship continues to serve as a pivotal platform for cultivating future champions and promoting cultural exchange and community cohesion. The event drew enthusiastic support from diverse audiences, reflecting a shared passion for the sport and its integration into societal lifestyles.

Fawzia Mohammed Faridoon, Acting Director of the Sports Events Department at the Dubai Sports Council, expressed pride in the championship's contribution to enhancing local jiu-jitsu standards and its alignment with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation's efforts in fostering sports development at all levels. Dubai Sports Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individual sports, particularly jiu-jitsu, through collaborative initiatives with the Federation in hosting significant local tournaments.
