‘Jumanji 3’ has officially begun filming, marking the return of one of Hollywood’s most successful adventure franchises. The production team shared the first on-set photo featuring Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan and Jack Black in costume, celebrating the start of the new chapter. The image was captioned, “Look who’s on the loose,” sparking excitement among fans.

Kevin Hart reposted the picture, expressing his enthusiasm for the franchise and hinting that the upcoming instalment will be their biggest and most ambitious film yet.

The untitled third movie continues after the success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Both films reintroduced the classic 1995 story to a new generation and became global box-office hits. Jake Kasdan returns as director and co-writer, working alongside Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on December 11, 2026.

A day before filming began, Dwayne Johnson shared behind-the-scenes footage from the Universal Studios backlot, surprising fans as he walked toward the set. He expressed how special it felt to shoot in Los Angeles again after many years.

Johnson also revealed a meaningful detail about his character this time: he will be wearing a necklace holding the original dice from the 1995 Jumanji film. He described it as his tribute to Robin Williams and a gesture of respect for the franchise’s legacy as they begin what he called “our very last Jumanji.”

The returning cast includes Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Lamorne Morris and Danny DeVito. Johnson recently shared a video from the table read, noting that getting the entire team back together led to nonstop laughter.

Both modern Jumanji films performed exceptionally well at the global box office — Welcome to the Jungle earning more than $950 million and The Next Level grossing over $801 million worldwide. With production now underway and the full team reunited, audiences can expect another entertaining, emotional and high-energy adventure when Jumanji 3 hits theatres in 2026.
