On Sunday, the Israeli military announced the deaths of five soldiers in southern Lebanon, raising the total number of Israeli military fatalities in the region to 37 since ground operations commenced on September 30. The army confirmed that these soldiers lost their lives during combat on Saturday.
The escalation of hostilities in the area began on October 8, 2023, when Hezbollah initiated rocket attacks against Israel. This action was in response to an unprecedented assault on Israel by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, which occurred the day before.

In the wake of the ongoing conflict, Israel significantly intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon, which had started in late September, before moving to ground operations in the south. The military campaign has led to considerable casualties on both sides.
According to reports based on official data, at least 1,615 people have died in Lebanon since September 23, although this figure is expected to be higher due to incomplete data. The situation remains volatile, with both the Israeli and Lebanese sides experiencing significant losses as the conflict continues to unfold.
