A police case has been registered against an IndiGo flight attendant after a mother claimed that her five-year-old daughter’s gold necklace went missing during a flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru on April 1. The flight number was 6E 661. The mother, Priyanka Mukherjee, was traveling with her two young daughters, aged five and two.
According to Priyanka, shortly after the plane took off, her two daughters started fighting. A flight attendant, identified as Aditi Ashwini Sharma, offered to help manage the situation. She asked Priyanka to hand over her elder daughter to her while she took care of calming the younger child. When the plane started descending, the flight attendant returned the elder daughter to her mother.

After landing in Bengaluru, Priyanka noticed that her daughter’s gold necklace, which weighed around 20 grams, was missing. She immediately questioned Aditi about it, but the flight attendant denied taking it. Feeling upset, Priyanka escalated the issue to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), IndiGo Airlines, and the airport authorities.
Priyanka shared, “From the time we landed in Bengaluru until the afternoon, I didn’t get a proper response from anyone. The airport authorities told me that since the incident happened on the flight, I had to deal with the airline and the police. When the police contacted the airline, they didn’t get Aditi to speak to them. The airline’s office said that Aditi denied the accusation, and there was no CCTV footage to prove what happened.”
After Priyanka’s complaint, the police registered a case and started investigating the matter. However, the lack of in-flight surveillance footage has made it difficult to solve the case.
In response to the incident, IndiGo Airlines released a statement saying, “We are aware of a recent incident involving a staff member on flight 6E 661 from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru, regarding a concern raised by our customer. We take such matters very seriously and are fully supporting and cooperating with the relevant authorities during the investigation.”
The police are still investigating the case, and no arrests have been made yet.
