Indian Student Fatally Stabbed by Fellow Indian in Australia

Post by :

A tragic incident unfolded in Australia as a 22-year-old MTech student from Karnal, Navjeet Sandhu, lost his life while attempting to intervene in a dispute among Indian students over house rent. The suspected attackers, identified as brothers Abhijeet and Robin Gartan, also hail from Karnal, Haryana. According to reports, Navjeet was fatally stabbed in the chest with a knife when he tried to defuse the altercation.

Navjeet's uncle, Yashvir, recounted the heartbreaking sequence of events, stating that Navjeet accompanied a friend to retrieve belongings from a house. Upon hearing commotion, Navjeet intervened to prevent the altercation, resulting in the fatal stabbing.

Both Navjeet and the alleged attackers have roots in Karnal, Haryana. The family received news of the tragic incident early Sunday morning. Navjeet, who had been studying in Australia on a student visa for one and a half years, pursued his education with the support of his family, who sold a portion of their land to fund his studies.

Victoria Police's Homicide Squad detectives are actively seeking the whereabouts of Abhijeet and Robin Gartan, who were last seen in the Ormond area shortly after the incident. The suspects are believed to be traveling in a stolen 2014 white Toyota Camry sedan.

Navjeet's family is appealing to the Indian government for assistance in repatriating his body to India. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.

The incident underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for swift justice. As the investigation continues, authorities are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide closure to Navjeet's grieving family.
