Riyadh – Saudi-based AI startup HUMAIN, backed by the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, is preparing to launch a groundbreaking computer operating system this week that lets users control their computers entirely through voice commands. The product, named HUMAIN 1, represents a shift from traditional icon-driven systems to a conversational approach.
CEO Tareq Amin explained that instead of navigating through application icons, users can simply speak their intent and the system will execute tasks accordingly. HUMAIN 1 is designed to provide an intuitive, natural interface, making technology more accessible for both personal and professional use.
Founded in May under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, HUMAIN has quickly established a portfolio of AI services, including cloud infrastructure, data centers, and advanced AI models. The development of HUMAIN 1 started shortly after the company’s inception, with internal testing on payroll and human resource systems to refine its functionality.
The operating system, which bridges the gap between users and computer hardware, could redefine how people interact with machines, moving away from decades-old models dominated by Windows and macOS. In parallel, HUMAIN plans to expand its capabilities significantly, aiming to build approximately 6 gigawatts of data center capacity to support its growing AI ecosystem.
Industry observers note that while other tech companies are exploring voice-based computing, HUMAIN’s official launch could position Saudi Arabia as a notable player in the next generation of personal computing.
