X’s head of engineering, Haofei Wang, has reportedly left the company, according to a report by The Verge. The company has not officially said anything about his exit, but sources say Wang was important in helping Elon Musk communicate with the engineering team. His sudden departure comes just a few days after X’s communications chief, Dave Heinzinger, also resigned, saying it was for personal reasons. While it is not clear why Wang left, some believe it may be because Musk is now spending more time on Dogecoin (DOGE) and his new company, xAI.

In recent months, several important people have left X. Heinzinger, who worked at the company for only three months, resigned earlier this week, showing that the company’s communication team is still facing problems. In September 2023, Samiran Gupta, who was in charge of policy for India and South Asia, also left. Gupta played a key role in handling X’s work with the government and making content rules. His exit happened while X was in a legal fight with the Indian government about removing content.
As Musk focuses more on artificial intelligence, X has been making big changes to its engineering team. In January, the company brought in two new people, Mike Dalton and Uday Ruddaraju, both of whom also work with xAI. This company, started by Musk in March 2023, wants to help people understand science better. One of its projects is Grok, an AI chatbot that is now available as a separate app on mobile phones.
Musk also has big plans for X and wants to turn it into an “everything app,” like WeChat in China. Reports say he is working on financial services and may even launch a digital wallet later this year.
With so many people leaving, some are wondering if X is going through a major change or if the company is facing bigger problems inside. As Musk focuses on AI and cryptocurrency, time will tell if his plans for X will come true.
