Harshvardhan Rane Slams Mawra Hocane for Calling His Exit from Sanam Teri Kasam 2 a PR Stunt

A fresh storm has hit Bollywood after Harshvardhan Rane stepped down from the film Sanam Teri Kasam 2. The reason? Tension between India and Pakistan. After India took strong steps in reply to attacks on its soldiers during “Operation Sindoor,” many Pakistani actors spoke against India. That’s when Harshvardhan Rane made his choice — he refused to work with Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane in the movie’s sequel.

Soon after his exit, Mawra made a sharp comment. She called it a "PR stunt" and said he was trying to grab attention.

But Harshvardhan didn’t stay silent. He wrote a calm yet powerful message on Instagram. He said, “It felt like she was attacking me personally. But I have the strength to stay silent when someone targets me. But I won’t stay quiet if someone speaks against my country.”

He also shared an example, saying, “Just like a farmer removes weeds from his field, I chose to step back. It’s not for show. It’s simple thinking.”

Harshvardhan explained that it was his right to choose not to work with someone who called India’s actions “cowardly.” He also added that while Mawra used hateful words and personal remarks, he never insulted her or said anything about her as a woman. “I won’t lower my standards,” he wrote.

Mawra, on the other hand, sounded upset. She said, “While our countries are facing hard times, this person wakes up and posts a PR message? What a shame.”

Meanwhile, because of rising voices asking to ban Pakistani artists in India, the makers of the film have now dropped Mawra from the project. They released a strong statement: “We cannot support anyone who stays silent on terror or speaks against our country. Some people worked here, gained love and fame, yet chose to stay quiet or speak against India. We support our nation. Always. Jai Hind.”

With both lead actors now out, the future of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 is unclear. What’s clear, though, is that patriotism has taken centre stage in this story.
