Hamdan bin Mohammed Marks 48th Armed Forces Unification Anniversary

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, graced a celebratory gathering marking the 48th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces. The event, held in the Abu Mureikha area in Abu Dhabi, saw the esteemed presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President and Chairman of the UAE Camel Racing Federation.

The festivities encompassed a range of activities and performances, paying homage to the historic decision taken on May 6, 1976, to unify the armed forces. Attendees took the opportunity to reflect on the visionary efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the UAE's founding leaders, whose foresight paved the way for a resilient nation. The event underscored how their strategic vision has positioned the UAE for a prosperous future.

Upon Sheikh Hamdan's arrival at the Abu Mureikha area, where the pivotal agreement was signed nearly five decades ago, he received a warm welcome from Mohammad Mubarak Fadhel Al-Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and Lieutenant-General Engineer Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, alongside other senior commanders.

Engaging with military leaders and retired personnel, Sheikh Hamdan extended his heartfelt congratulations to deserving recipients of armed forces medals, recognizing their invaluable contributions to various operations. His Highness also witnessed a captivating military parade and bestowed medals upon esteemed officers of the armed forces.

During his visit to the museum situated in the Abu Mureikha area, Sheikh Hamdan immersed himself in the rich history of the UAE Armed Forces, exploring an array of artifacts that chronicle the nation's military journey. From antique military uniforms to historical equipment, the exhibits offered a poignant glimpse into the armed forces' heritage.

In a gesture of significance, the senior leadership of the armed forces presented Sheikh Hamdan with a model representing the Abu Mureikha area headquarters, symbolizing the area's profound historical importance in the annals of the armed forces.

The ceremony was attended by a cadre of senior officials and commanders representing various divisions of the UAE Armed Forces, underscoring the collective commitment to honor and commemorate the nation's military legacy.
