Actor Girija Oak Godbole, known for her performance in Jawan, is gearing up for her upcoming web series Therapy Sherapy. The series also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa, and is directed by Sachin Pathak. Ahead of its release, Girija opened up about her experience filming intimate scenes with Gulshan and shared how his professionalism made the process comfortable and respectful.
Filming Intimate Scenes with Comfort and Respect
In a candid conversation with The Lallantop, Girija Oak revealed that she had to shoot some intimate scenes with Gulshan Devaiah for Therapy Sherapy. She praised him for being “one of those rare co-actors” who ensure a safe and respectful environment on set.
Girija said,
“Despite all the planning that goes into such scenes, there are very few people with whom you feel no discomfort with. Gulshan was one of them. He brought three or four different pillows from his vanity van — one small, one big and fluffy, another stiff — and asked me to choose whichever felt most comfortable. During the scene, he must have asked me at least 16 or 17 times, ‘Are you okay?’”
She further added,
“He said, ‘If you want to take it out, I’m totally fine with it.’ That level of care and respect really touched me. For someone else, this could have been a very difficult situation. However, because it was Gulshan, I felt completely at ease. Amazingly, he’s that kind of person.”
Presence of Intimacy Coordinators and On-Set Challenges
Girija also emphasized the importance of intimacy coordinators on set, highlighting that their presence ensures transparency and comfort for the actors involved. She explained that detailed discussions are held before filming such scenes, allowing actors to understand what exactly will happen and to establish clear boundaries.
“The atmosphere is made so that actors feel comfortable, and intimacy coordinators are always present. Many discussions take place beforehand so the actors performing the scene have a clear picture of it,” she said.
However, Girija also pointed out that even with all the preparation, challenges can still arise once the cameras start rolling.
“Once the camera starts rolling, sometimes you get stuck in a dilemma of whether to stop it or not, whether it was right or not. It’s a very grey zone,” she added.
Therapy Sherapy, directed by Sachin Pathak, is an upcoming web series that delves into complex human emotions and relationships, told through a quirky and heartfelt lens. The show brings together a stellar ensemble cast, including Girija Oak, Gulshan Devaiah, Neha Dhupia, Seema Pahwa, and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles.
The release date of the series is yet to be officially announced, but it has already generated buzz for its unique concept and strong performances.
Girija Oak’s candid revelations highlight how professionalism and empathy can transform sensitive scenes into safe and collaborative artistic experiences. She credited co-star Gulshan Devaiah for his thoughtful gestures and respect, which made filming intimate sequences in Therapy Sherapy a comfortable and positive experience.
