flydubai expands Romania network with new Iași flights

Flydubai has further strengthened its presence in Romania by launching direct flights from Dubai to Iași, becoming the first UAE airline to serve this route. The service, which started this week, will operate twice a week, adding to the airline’s growing European network.

With this new addition, flydubai now flies to two Romanian cities — Bucharest and Iași. The carrier is also expanding operations to Bucharest, increasing flights from three per week to three daily services. This means a total of 21 weekly flights between Dubai and Romania.

The inaugural flight to Iași International Airport (IAS) was greeted with a traditional water salute and welcomed by senior officials, media, and airport representatives.

At the launch event, Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said:
“Romania has always been an important market for us since we began flights in 2012. Over the years, we have recorded steady passenger growth of around 16% annually on the Bucharest route. Expanding flights and opening new destinations show the strong demand for travel between the UAE, Romania, and beyond.”

Romeo Vatră, General Manager of Iași Airport, also welcomed the development. He stated:
“The start of flydubai’s direct flights between Iași and Dubai is a key step for our airport. It gives passengers greater travel options and strengthens Iași’s role as an international hub for the region. At the moment, Iași Airport is the only one in Moldova offering direct links to the UAE. We are excited about this partnership and believe it will bring long-term benefits to travelers and the community.”

The new route highlights flydubai’s growing focus on Eastern Europe and its role in connecting Dubai to emerging travel markets.
