Police in the United States have arrested a man named Luigi Mangione, who is 26 years old, after searching for him all over the country. Mangione is accused of killing Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, in New York. Thompson, who was 50 years old, was shot and killed last week while he was at a meeting with investors.
Police say Mangione had a special type of gun called a "ghost gun," which can shoot 9mm bullets, and he also had fake identity cards. He has been charged with having an illegal gun and fake IDs. Police believe these items are connected to the murder of Thompson.
Mangione was identified when police found a photo of him from a youth hostel where he stayed before the murder. Reports say that while he was talking to the receptionist at the hostel, he took down his mask and got his picture taken. This photo helped the police find him. The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, said Mangione looked just like the suspect police were looking for. He also had things with him that the police think are related to the crime.

Mangione was caught at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The workers at McDonald’s noticed a man wearing a mask and a beanie hat, sitting with a laptop. They called the police to report him. When the police came to the McDonald’s, Mangione gave them a fake ID. The officers said he became very quiet and started shaking when they asked him if he had recently been to New York.
The police say Mangione wrote a note that showed he was angry with big companies in America. In the note, he complained about the high cost of healthcare and called big businesses "parasites." The note also suggested he believed these companies deserved what happened to Thompson.
Video footage from a camera shows how the murder happened. Police say Mangione walked up to Thompson from behind while wearing a hoodie and covering his face. He then shot Thompson several times. After shooting him, Mangione ran away, got on a bicycle, and rode to Central Park. From there, he took a bus and disappeared. This led to a nationwide search for him.
The governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, said Mangione will face murder charges in New York. He added that people should not kill others to solve disagreements about policies. Mangione will now be sent to New York to face trial for the murder. The police are still looking for more details about what happened and why Mangione may have done this
