A British Airways plane landed at Heathrow Airport just before sunset on Friday, making it the first flight to arrive after the airport reopened. The airport was closed for 18 hours because of a big fire at an electrical station, which caused a power cut and stopped all flights.

The power failure started early on Friday and forced Heathrow to cancel all flights, leaving thousands of passengers stuck. The shutdown caused major delays and flight cancellations, affecting more than 1,350 flights, according to FlightRadar24.
After power was restored, Heathrow lifted the closure, allowing flights to start again. The British Airways plane was the first to land, marking the airport’s return to service. However, travel problems are expected to continue for a few days as airlines try to fix their schedules and move their planes and staff to the right locations.
Many passengers will still face delays as airlines work to rearrange flights. Travelers were advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
The power cut at one of the busiest airports in Europe showed how airports can be affected by sudden technical issues. Airport officials said they are working hard to get everything back to normal and ensure that flights run smoothly.
