An Egyptian archaeological team has found three ancient tombs from the New Kingdom period, one of the most famous times in ancient Egyptian history. The tombs were discovered while digging at the Dra Abul-Naga necropolis, located on the West Bank of Luxor.

This important discovery helps us learn more about the lives of important officials who worked in temples and government jobs long ago in ancient Egypt.

Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, called this find “a very important scientific and cultural achievement.” He said it will help Egypt become even more famous as a place for cultural tourism.

Fathy explained that these tombs are more than just places where people were buried. They show us how important people lived, what jobs they did, and what they believed in.

He also pointed out that the discovery was made completely by Egyptian archaeologists, showing how skilled and capable these teams are.

Mohamed Ismail Khaled, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, visited the site for a short time to check the tombs.

Khaled confirmed that all three tombs belong to the New Kingdom period. He said that inscriptions, or writings, inside the tombs helped experts to begin identifying who the tombs belonged to.
