The Rail Bus runs at a speed of 100 km/h and can carry up to 40 passengers. It is a lightweight bus that moves on railway tracks. What makes it special is that it runs on a bridge that has solar panels, which generate energy to power the system. This helps reduce the cost of running the bus and makes it more friendly to the environment.
RTA started working on this project after signing an agreement in January last year with Rail Bus Inc., a company from the USA. The goal was to create a system that uses solar energy to run the buses. RTA also signed a second agreement with Urban-Mass Company, from the UK, to explore another idea called the Floc Duo Rail system. This system would have two tracks for fast, easy, and efficient transportation.
Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, the CEO of the Rail Agency at RTA, said that working with top companies around the world is part of their plan to bring the best transport ideas to Dubai. He explained that RTA is exploring many new ways of moving people around the city, including using driverless electric vehicles. This new transportation system would use short units during low times and longer ones during rush hours to make sure the system meets the needs of the city.
Another exciting part of this project is the idea of having vehicles run on bridges with solar panels. This will help save energy and lower the costs of the transportation system. The design of these systems is modern and cost-effective, which makes it a great solution for the future.
Hatim Ibrahim, CEO of Rail Bus Inc., expressed his excitement about the project, saying that the partnership with RTA is setting new standards for green transport. He said this collaboration is helping Dubai become a smart city and will play a big part in making the city cleaner and more sustainable.
This new Rail Bus is a big step forward for Dubai’s transportation plans. It will help the city move towards more modern, green, and energy-saving ways of transport for the future.
