The 28th edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) has set a new milestone this year, drawing 93 participants from 63 countries — the highest number of contestants since the award began in 1997.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event continues to grow in reputation as one of the world’s most prestigious Quran memorization competitions.
Ibrahim Bumelha, advisor to His Highness for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Chairman of the DIHQA organizing committee, expressed his pride in the increasing international interest.
“Each year, we welcome more countries and stronger participants. The Dubai Quran Award reflects the deep global commitment to the Quran and has inspired thousands of young people to start memorizing and learning its teachings.”
The growing popularity of the event is seen as a reflection of Dubai’s continued efforts to promote religious understanding, cultural unity, and excellence in Islamic scholarship.
The 2025 edition of DIHQA took place from March 12 to April 1, 2025, and was hosted at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry building.
Every evening, audiences gathered to listen to the heartfelt recitations by talented young memorizers. The atmosphere was filled with faith, unity, and admiration for the contestants.
A panel of internationally respected Quran scholars and judges evaluated each participant. The judging process followed strict and transparent criteria, ensuring that every contestant was assessed fairly on memorization accuracy, pronunciation, and recitation style.
The competition was broadcast live on TV and online, allowing viewers around the globe to support their country’s representative and enjoy the spiritual beauty of the recitations.
At the conclusion of the event, valuable gifts and awards were presented to the top performers. These prizes are designed to honor the dedication of the participants and encourage more youth to follow in their footsteps.
More than just a competition, DIHQA has become a platform for promoting peace, love, and unity through the teachings of the Holy Quran. It continues to strengthen cultural and religious bonds across continents.
