The Dubai International Holy Quran Award has launched its 28th edition under a new developmental vision titled “In Search of the Most Beautiful Quran Recitation for 2026.” The award introduces major qualitative changes and a record-breaking increase in prize money, strengthening Dubai’s global leadership in Quran recitation competitions.

Record Prize Pool of AED 12 Million

For the first time in its history, the total prize value has been raised to more than AED 12 million, making it the largest Quran competition prize globally.

  • $1 million for the first-place male winner

  • $1 million for the first-place female winner

  • $1 million for the Global Quranic Personality Award

This historic increase aims to motivate young talents worldwide to excel in Quran recitation and its sciences.

Strong Support from Dubai Leadership

The new vision has been launched under the directives and support of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

This step reflects Dubai’s long-term strategy of investing in values, preserving Islamic heritage, and spreading the teachings of the Holy Quran globally.

Record Global Participation

According to Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees, the 28th edition received:

  • 5,618 applications

  • From 105 countries

  • 30% female participation

He stated that the high level of performance in the first and second judging rounds shows that the increased prizes have encouraged participants, families, and teachers to improve recitation quality and vocal performance.

A Strategic Shift in Quran Competitions

Ibrahim Jassim Al Mansoori, Acting Director of the Award, described this edition as a historic milestone. He said the increased prize value and new standards will help:

  • Promote excellence in Quran recitation

  • Encourage youth to connect with Quranic values

  • Build a generation that preserves Islamic identity

  • Set a new international benchmark for Quran competitions

Raising Global Standards

With its expanded prize pool and stricter performance standards, the Dubai International Holy Quran Award has become the most prestigious platform for Quran recitation worldwide. The competition now sets new levels of preparation, mastery, and vocal excellence.

The initiative is expected to create long-term global impact, with winners serving as ambassadors of the Holy Quran in their communities.

By doubling the prize value and introducing a new strategic vision, Dubai has reinforced its position as a global leader in serving the Holy Quran and promoting excellence in its recitation and sciences.
