Dubai Police caught 222 people begging during Ramadan and Eid. This happened after they started a campaign called “An Aware Society, Free of Begging,” along with help from other government groups.

Out of the 222, thirty-three beggars were caught during Eid. The rest were taken during Ramadan.
Captain Abdullah Khamis, who leads the team that stops begging, said the police found people doing fake begging. Some were asking for money online, some were lying about building mosques in other countries, and others made up sad stories to get help.
He said the main goal of the campaign is to keep people safe from tricksters and to protect the good name of the UAE. He also said that some people beg in tricky ways — they use children, people with special needs, or pretend to be sick to make others feel sorry for them.
Police said many women were caught begging with children. This is wrong and against the law.
Colonel Ahmad Al Adidi, another police officer, said that begging in groups or in smart ways is a crime, especially near mosques or during holy times like Eid and Ramadan.
The police asked people to help stop this. If anyone sees someone begging, they can call 901, use the “Police Eye” feature in the Dubai Police app, or report it on the E-Crime website.
Police also reminded people that real charity should be given through trusted places, so the help goes to people who truly need it.
