In his opening address, His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized the significance of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). He stated, “The Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) is an integrated roadmap for economic development designed to boost the emirate’s competitiveness. Our goal is to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade and establish it among the top three global cities. Effective partnerships between the public and private sectors are crucial to creating an exceptional investment environment.”

Lootah further expressed confidence in the forum’s role in enhancing trade and investment between Dubai and China. He noted the impressive growth in Chinese companies registered with Dubai Chamber of Commerce, which reached approximately 5,400 by mid-2024. Additionally, the cumulative value of Chinese foreign direct investments in Dubai stood at AED 19.85 billion from 2015 to 2023.

Building Strong Connections

Dubai Chambers facilitated a series of bilateral business meetings between Dubai's delegation, including government entities and private companies, and the Chinese investors present at the forum. These discussions aimed to explore cooperation opportunities and forge partnerships across various sectors, providing a platform for the Chinese business community to leverage Dubai’s investment environment and expand into new regional and global markets.

Strategic Agreements

During the forum, Dubai Chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Subcouncil (CCPIT Beijing). The agreement is intended to strengthen trade relations and bilateral ties between the business communities of China and Dubai. It also aims to support CCPIT Beijing’s members in establishing and growing their investments in Dubai. The MoU will facilitate cooperation in organizing business events, trade delegations, and promoting business partnerships between the two regions.

Forum Sessions and Discussions

The forum featured 18 insightful sessions covering a range of topics, including trade and logistics, artificial intelligence (AI), foreign direct investment (FDI), renewable energy, and healthcare. Discussions focused on how the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) is elevating Dubai’s role as a global hub for trade and innovation and how it is increasing the flow of Chinese investments into the emirate.

A key session explored opportunities in the e-commerce sector, examining strategies to meet evolving consumer needs and the role of Dubai’s advanced logistics infrastructure in supporting Chinese e-commerce businesses. Another session highlighted the alignment of Dubai’s economic goals with China’s development plans and ways to foster enduring bilateral partnerships.
