Silk Logistics is a well-established provider of port-to-door logistics services in Australia. The company operates 21 logistics hubs and 25 warehousing sites across five states, partnering with some of the world’s leading brands. Silk’s services are known for their efficiency and cost-effectiveness, catering to a broad national customer base.

The company operates through two main business segments:

  • Port Logistics: This segment provides seamless wharf cartage services connecting Australia’s major ports.

  • Contract Logistics: This includes warehousing and multimodal distribution solutions designed to support complex supply chain requirements.

DP World Australia, a subsidiary of DP World, has a strong presence in the region with operations across four container terminals and three container parks located in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Fremantle. In addition, DP World Australia operates inland distribution centers and warehouses, playing a critical role in Australia’s logistics landscape.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasized that the acquisition of Silk Logistics is an important step in strengthening DP World’s integrated logistics capabilities. He noted that this strategic acquisition will enhance the company’s ability to provide seamless, end-to-end logistics solutions while delivering long-term value to all stakeholders.

Glen Hilton, CEO & Managing Director for DP World in Asia Pacific, also expressed excitement about the acquisition. He highlighted that the move aligns with DP World Australia’s strategy to offer complementary logistics solutions to a wide range of customers across Oceania. By combining DP World Australia’s extensive terminal operations with Silk Logistics’ value-added services, the acquisition will significantly enhance the company’s ability to deliver tailored logistics solutions that meet the diverse needs of its customers.

This acquisition is seen as a major step forward in DP World Australia’s strategy to expand its reach and capabilities in the region, positioning it as a stronger player in the competitive logistics market in Australia and beyond
