DP World Adds New ‘Jebel Ali’ Vessel to Modern Fleet

DP World has added a new ship to its fleet, called the "DP World Jebel Ali." This new ship made its first visit to Jebel Ali Port, which is named after it. The DP World Jebel Ali is a special type of container ship, known as a Sapphire 5300. It has modern technology designed to improve how cargo is handled, lower operating costs, and make the shipping industry more environmentally friendly.

To celebrate the ship's first trip to the port, DP World and Unifeeder, a global shipping company, held a special event at Jebel Ali Port. The event highlighted how important the port is in global shipping and trade. The DP World Jebel Ali will be a part of Unifeeder’s Asian Gulf ISC Service (AGI), which helps move goods across the region.

One of the unique features of this new vessel is its compact design. This makes it easier for the ship to navigate smaller ports and even inland terminals. This could open up new ways to improve supply chains and reach more places. The ship is also designed to be more energy-efficient. It will save around 1,700 metric tonnes of fuel every year and reduce carbon emissions by 15% to 20% on the routes it travels.

Ganesh Raj, the Global Chief Operating Officer of Marine Services at DP World, shared his excitement about the new ship. He said that adding the DP World Jebel Ali to their fleet shows their commitment to providing fast and efficient shipping services. He also mentioned that this ship will help reduce the company’s impact on the environment, while also improving their network, which is an important part of both regional and global trade.
