Bollywood filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, who produced the film Savi, had recently suggested in an interview that Divya Khosla Kumar might have created the Savi vs Jigra controversy for publicity. This statement sparked reactions across social media and the film industry, putting Divya in a difficult position.
In a surprising turn of events, Divya shared a phone call recording in which she directly confronted Mukesh Bhatt about his remarks. In the recording, Mukesh clearly denied ever making such a statement against her. He told Divya, “Neither did anyone ask me, nor did I tell anyone. This is created by people with their own hidden interests.” He also noted that the timing of the negative reports, coinciding with Divya’s birthday, seemed deliberate and possibly intended to hurt her. Mukesh reassured her, saying that he would never behave in such a way and hinted that the backlash may have come from other sources. He advised Divya to stay strong and focus on her future projects.
Divya shared the recording on Instagram and expressed her shock and disappointment at the situation. She said that it was important to share the truth publicly, especially for artists and fans who have faced hierarchy, lobbying, and unfair practices in the film industry. She further emphasized that certain groups attempt to sabotage genuine talent and careers, and such behavior should not be normalized. Divya stated her intention to continue speaking up against these unfair practices and fight for transparency in the industry.
The controversy between Savi and Jigra began in 2024 when Divya accused the makers of Jigra of copying the story of her film Savi, particularly the jailbreak concept. She also claimed that Jigra’s box-office numbers were inflated, suggesting that tickets were being bought in bulk to give the impression of higher collections. Earlier, Mukesh Bhatt had indicated that some controversies in the industry are created for publicity, but he also praised Alia Bhatt, saying she does not need to indulge in cheap stunts.
This development has drawn attention to the challenges and politics within Bollywood, highlighting how disputes over ideas and public statements can escalate quickly. Divya’s decision to release the phone call reflects a growing trend of artists speaking out against unfair practices and advocating for accountability in the film industry.
