DEWA and Al Furjan Fund Partner to Boost Social Initiatives and Programs

In a move to support Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Al Furjan Fund, reinforcing a commitment to foster community initiatives and enhance the quality of life for citizens and residents in Dubai. This partnership aligns with the vision introduced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme "Family: The Foundation of Our Nation," which aims to build cohesive, sustainable communities that prioritize the well-being of Dubai’s residents.

The agreement was formalized by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and His Excellency Ahmed Al Bedwawi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Furjan Fund. The MoU signifies the commitment of both organizations to foster social sustainability within Dubai's residential neighborhoods, in line with the ambitious strategies set forth by the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033.

Dr. Yousef Al Akraf emphasized DEWA's dedication to projects that enhance social cohesion and national identity, reinforcing the city’s vision of a unified community. “DEWA’s top management is committed to implementing and supporting initiatives that contribute to Dubai’s social and economic development. This partnership is pivotal in reinforcing social cohesion, enhancing citizens' quality of life, and consolidating national identity across various communities in Dubai,” said Dr. Al Akraf. He further highlighted that the collaboration with Al Furjan Fund would be instrumental in creating projects aimed at increasing community engagement, stability, and well-being for Emirati citizens.

In line with DEWA's objective to promote an inclusive and supportive environment, the MoU emphasizes educational and awareness initiatives as well as investment in community-based projects. These initiatives will focus on several areas, including comprehensive development, quality of life improvement, and economic support. Additionally, the program aims to direct investments towards meaningful cultural and social causes, from community sports projects that encourage physical activity to seasonal events designed to bolster both community happiness and economic vitality.

HE Ahmed Al Bedwawi shared that Al Furjan Fund is actively pursuing strategic collaborations with both government and private sector entities, a vision that resonates strongly in this latest agreement with DEWA. “The partnership with DEWA strengthens our commitment to supporting the community and enhancing the quality of life of our citizens through sustainable and impactful projects,” stated Al Bedwawi. He added that the MoU will open avenues for financing initiatives that further social cohesion, sustainability, and empowerment across residential communities.

In line with this collaboration, DEWA will also support initiatives by Al Furjan Fund to encourage investment in sports, recreational activities, and cultural programming aimed at fostering well-being and social connection. Seasonal events, which will be sponsored under this agreement, will enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to Dubai’s economic growth by attracting increased participation in community-focused gatherings and celebrations.

Founded under the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Al Furjan Fund has actively sponsored initiatives that promote social engagement and community support. Launched by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the fund has already played a significant role in programs like the Summer Rain initiative, the Bain Al Ghaf Festival, and a summer camp for retired citizens, created in collaboration with Dubai’s Thukher Club.

These community-centered programs are part of a broader strategy to ensure that the residents of Dubai live in neighborhoods that offer not only quality services but also a vibrant social and cultural life. By providing avenues for recreational, educational, and social engagement, the initiatives aim to create a supportive environment where citizens feel valued and empowered.
