Priya Kapur has rejected allegations that Samaira Kapoor’s university fees were left unpaid. The issue came up during an ongoing legal dispute over the estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who died in London earlier this year.
During the hearing at the Delhi High Court, Priya Kapur’s lawyer, Sheyl Trehan, presented receipts showing that Samaira’s university fees had already been paid. The documents indicated that ₹95 lakh per semester has been cleared, and the next installment is due only in December. This contradicted the earlier claim made by Karisma Kapoor’s lawyer, who stated that two months’ fees were pending for Samaira, who is currently studying in the United States.
The court briefly addressed the disagreement before the judge firmly warned both sides to avoid unnecessary drama. Justice Singh stated that such minor issues should not repeatedly come before the court.
The fee dispute forms part of a larger conflict over Sunjay Kapur’s estate. His children with Karisma Kapoor — Samaira and Kiaan — have accused their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur of forging Sunjay’s will and excluding them from inheritance. Priya’s legal representatives denied this, arguing that it is neither unusual nor suspicious for a husband to leave his assets to his wife.
Samaira and Kiaan have also requested an interim injunction to prevent Priya from selling or altering any of Sunjay’s assets while the case continues. The court is currently hearing arguments on that application as the family dispute remains ongoing.
