After nearly three months aboard the cargo ship 'Dali', eight Indian crew members involved in its collision with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore have departed for India. According to the Baltimore Maritime Exchange, four of the original 21 crew members remain on the MV Dali, scheduled to depart for Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday evening.
The departure of the eight Indian crew members was facilitated by a judge-approved agreement, which excluded them from being officers. The remaining 13 crew members are staying in the US pending ongoing investigations.

These crew members have been relocated to a service apartment in Baltimore during the investigation period. The MV Dali, owned by Grace Ocean Private Ltd., will undergo necessary repairs in Norfolk. The vessel, with a capacity of 10,000 TEU and a current load of 4,679 TEU, has a deadweight of 116,851 DWT. It was en route from Baltimore to Colombo when the collision occurred, resulting in the collapse of a portion of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and tragically claiming the lives of six construction workers.
Rev. Joshua Messick, Director of the Baltimore International Seafarers' Center and chaplain for the Port of Baltimore, expressed concerns for the crew's well-being, stating, "They're anxious, under considerable stress, not knowing their future, when they'll see their families again, or how they'll be treated here."
As of now, no crew members have faced charges related to the incident. The FBI and other federal agencies continue their investigations into the cause of the bridge collapse. The Francis Scott Key Bridge, spanning the Patapsco River in Baltimore, measures 2.6 kilometers long and four lanes wide.
