Brand Dubai Reveals Special Artwork at DIFC Gate for #ZayedAndRashid

Photo : Dubai Government Media Office

In a stunning tribute to the UAE's founding legacy, Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has unveiled a monumental artwork at the DIFC Gate. This installation honors the visionary leadership and enduring values of the UAE's Founding Fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, marking another significant milestone in the nation's growth and unity.

The unveiling of the artwork is part of the #ZayedAndRashid campaign, which seeks to celebrate the country's national occasions, instilling a sense of pride and patriotism across the nation. This particular installation coincides with Flag Day and Eid Al Etihad, adding to the national celebrations that reflect the spirit of unity and pride among the citizens of the UAE.

At the heart of the tribute is a towering 50-meter portrait of the two leaders, standing tall against the backdrop of the modern UAE they envisioned decades ago, during the nation's formative years. This breathtaking portrait captures the essence of their leadership, which guided the nation’s remarkable transformation into a global hub of progress, innovation, and prosperity.

The artwork features iconic images of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid, originally captured by renowned photographer Ramesh Shukla. Shukla's deep admiration for both leaders and their vision for the nation is evident in the powerful photographs he took over the years. His longstanding connection with the UAE’s leadership was marked by a deep personal bond with Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid, who welcomed him into their community with warmth and openness. These intimate moments of connection inspired Shukla’s dedication to documenting the leadership and historic evolution of the country, capturing the UAE’s transformation through his lens.

The artwork’s backdrop was created by Emirati artist Maitha Demithan, whose innovative artistic style combines photography and art to create stunning three-dimensional imagery on a two-dimensional canvas. Maitha's work has gained international recognition, with previous exhibitions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London, Paris, and Venice. Her distinct approach to art, blending key visual elements, perfectly complements the monumental portrait, further emphasizing the transformation of the UAE from its humble beginnings to its current stature.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, expressed the significance of this installation, saying, "The DIFC installation stands as a powerful symbol of the unity and shared purpose that has driven the UAE’s nation-building efforts from the very beginning. The nation’s citizens and residents are united in their pride as they celebrate the occasion, with cultural events and spontaneous festivities filling the country. This artwork is a reminder of the enduring legacy of our visionary leaders, whose values will continue to inspire future generations."

Saleh Al Akrabi, Chief Real Estate Officer of DIFC Investments Ltd, echoed the sentiments, stating, “DIFC is honored to collaborate with Brand Dubai in celebrating the achievements of the UAE's leadership and Founding Fathers through this UAE Flag Day installation. Our leadership serves as a model for innovation, work ethic, and patriotism. Without their foresight, DIFC would not be among the world’s leading global financial centers today.”

The installation at DIFC Gate offers a moment of reflection on the remarkable journey of the UAE, celebrating not only the Founding Fathers but also the vision that continues to guide the nation's path forward. With this grand artwork, Brand Dubai has created a lasting tribute that will inspire future generations to honor the legacy and values of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid, while celebrating the UAE’s ongoing transformation.
