Prabhas' latest horror-comedy, The Raja Saab, is making a significant impact at the box office, even as it experiences a slight dip post its impressive debut. On Sunday, the film garnered ₹19.1 crore across all languages in India, elevating its domestic earnings to ₹108.26 crore.
With a robust start, the movie crossed the ₹150 crore mark globally during its opening weekend and now eyes a total of ₹200 crore by Makar Sankranti, January 14. Although Sunday’s collection fell from Saturday’s ₹26 crore, audience reception remains favorable.
Directed by Maruthi Dasari, The Raja Saab tells the story of a young heir who unravels the mystery of his grandfather’s disappearance while encountering a ghostly sorcerer in a haunted mansion. The film features an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal.
Prabhas is no stranger to high-grossing openings; his previous films like Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire have also seen tremendous success. Kalki 2898 AD eventually earned over ₹543 crore domestically, while Salaar collected more than ₹200 crore during its initial weekend. Even the much-talked-about Adipurush brought in over ₹215 crore upon release.
In an exciting turn, a sequel titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935 has already been announced. Maruthi Dasari will reprise his role as director, although the release date is yet to be unveiled. Fans are eagerly looking forward to the next installment of this thrilling horror-comedy series.
