Sprinter Arwa Ali continued her remarkable form by qualifying for the final of the women’s 100m race, setting a new Games record for the second time with a clocking of 11.66 seconds. Her exceptional performance not only highlights her dominance in the sprint category but also earned her qualification for the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, USA, in 2026, where she will compete with the world’s best young athletes.
In the middle-distance sprints, Aisha Mohammed excelled in the women’s 400m, topping her heat with a time of 54.42 seconds. Her performance secured her place in the final, demonstrating outstanding speed and endurance. Meanwhile, Saeed Omar continued his strong form in the men’s 400m, winning his heat with a time of 47.53 seconds, earning a spot in the final and showing great promise for UAE athletics on the international stage.
The UAE national golf team began the first round of the individual events with notable performances. Mohammed Thabet scored 79 strokes, Abdullah Salmeen recorded 92, and Marwan Al Emadi finished with 95. In the girls’ individual category, Sarah Abubakar and Asya Saleem both carded 72 strokes, while Anka Mateo completed her round with 75 strokes. These results reflect the growing talent and competitiveness of UAE youth golfers in international competitions.
In team competitions, the UAE youth golf team recorded a total of 171 strokes, placing 14th after the first round. Meanwhile, the girls’ team performed strongly with a combined score of 144 strokes, securing eighth place overall. The results demonstrate the UAE teams’ potential to improve in upcoming rounds and reflect the dedication and preparation of young athletes in both individual and team events.
