The UAE Athletics Team boosted the nation’s medal tally to four medals — two gold, one silver, and one bronze — at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. These achievements propelled the UAE to eighth place overall and secured the top spot among Arab nations, reflecting the growing strength of Emirati athletes in international competitions.

Sprinter Arwa Ali captured the gold medal in the women’s 100 metres with an impressive time of 11.45 seconds, setting the fastest mark in the history of the Asian Youth Games. This was the third record she set during the tournament across all rounds. Qatar’s Dana Salem earned the silver in 11.60 seconds, while China’s Yan Shinyi took bronze in 11.79 seconds. Arwa Ali’s achievement highlights her remarkable speed and consistency in sprinting.

In the women’s 400-metre race, UAE athlete Aisha Mohammed claimed gold with a timing of 54.25 seconds. Her performance demonstrated outstanding stamina and speed. India’s Jason Edina took silver in 55.43 seconds, while Wu Xia Ying from Chinese Taipei earned bronze in 56.60 seconds. Aisha Mohammed’s victory further strengthens the UAE’s position in athletics at youth international events.

In the men’s 400-metre race, UAE sprinter Saeed Omar won the silver medal with a time of 47.18 seconds. China’s Jia Yang claimed gold in 46.57 seconds, and Sri Lanka’s Costa Shanuka took bronze in 47.72 seconds. Omar’s medal adds to the UAE’s growing list of successes in track events and reflects the nation’s investment in nurturing young athletic talent.

The UAE also celebrated its first-ever medal in the hammer throw at the Asian Youth Games. Mohammed Adel Al Ali secured the bronze medal with a distance of 62.03 metres. This milestone demonstrates the UAE’s expanding presence in field events, complementing the country’s growing track and sprint achievements.

The medal ceremony was attended by Ahad Mohammed bin Kerdous Al Ameri, UAE Ambassador to Bahrain, and Major General Dr Mohammed Al Mur, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee and President of the Athletics Federation. Their presence highlighted the importance of supporting youth athletes and celebrating their achievements on an international stage.

With record-breaking performances by Arwa Ali and Aisha Mohammed, along with strong results in men’s events and field competitions, the UAE’s youth athletes are showing their potential for future success. These achievements are a testament to the country’s focus on training, development, and international participation, paving the way for continued excellence in athletics.
