Sriram Raghavan’s much-anticipated war film Ikkis, starring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, is now scheduled to hit theaters on January 1, 2026. Originally set for a December 25 release, the film has been delayed. Amitabh Bachchan announced this change via social media, revealing that “some astrologers” advised the new date was more auspicious, highlighting the influence of jyotish vidya rather than competition at the box office.
Produced by Maddock Films, the latest poster for Ikkis showcases Agastya Nanda. The film narrates the tale of courage and sacrifice, centering on Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who is celebrated as India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. It also features renowned actors Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal roles.
For Agastya Nanda, this film marks his first theatrical debut, following his appearance in Netflix's The Archies (2023). Additionally, this film is significant as it is set to be Dharmendra’s final performance, marking a notable chapter for the veteran star.
Fans can look forward to the official trailer for Ikkis, which will be released in theaters soon, providing a sneak peek of the gripping narrative and dynamic performances. The production team is optimistic that the New Year release will ensure a robust opening for the film.
At the same time, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is performing admirably at the box office, amassing approximately ₹460 crore net in India. The rescheduled January release for Ikkis helps it sidestep any competitive clashes while offering a fresh slate to start the year.
Die-hard fans of Agastya Nanda and war film aficionados are keenly waiting for Ikkis, which promises to deliver a unique mix of history, bravery, and cinematic artistry, marking a noteworthy commencement to 2026.
