In an unexpected morning scare, an Akasa Air flight from Pune to Delhi experienced a bird strike on Friday, but the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft managed to land safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Passengers and crew remained unharmed throughout the incident.
Flight QP1607, which departed Pune in the early hours, touched down in Delhi shortly after 10 am, according to flight tracking data from Flightradar24. The bird strike caused no injuries or immediate technical issues, but the aircraft was promptly taken for a thorough inspection.
“The aircraft is being examined by our engineering team in accordance with standard procedures,” said a spokesperson from Akasa Air. The airline ensured that safety checks were prioritized before the aircraft could resume operations.

The incident caused a slight disruption to the day’s schedule. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was originally set to operate a flight from Delhi to Goa later on Friday. To maintain the timetable, Akasa Air deployed another aircraft on the route, leading to a short delay.
Despite the bird strike, the airline confirmed that there was no impact on its broader network, and all other flights continued as scheduled. Aviation experts often stress that bird strikes are common but rarely result in serious incidents, especially with modern aircraft and trained crews prepared for such events.
Passengers praised the calm and professional handling of the situation, noting that airline staff promptly updated them and ensured smooth disembarkation. The quick response highlights the importance of routine safety protocols in commercial aviation.
